TIOGA ADULT LEARNING LAB SERVICES Computer Literacy/Software Classes Classes and workshops are offered throughout the year, which discusses the basics of using a personal computer at home and in the workplace. Students learn how to use software programs that focus on word-processing, spreadsheet, database programs, and Internet use. These introductory level classes are designed with the beginning computer user in mind, but also teach intermediate skills necessary to enable the student to become a more proficient computer user. Classes range in length from 1-day workshops to a full 6 week course, and are limited in size to offer students more instructor time. Since being first introduced in 1995 hundreds of Broome and Tioga residents have taken advantage of the free classes to become more proficient with computers. One student explained she had made great strides by the end of the class: " I now feel more comfortable with computers and went from knowing practically nothing to being able to write my own resume." While classes are offered throughout the year, one-to-one help with computers is also available. Please call Literacy Volunteers office to schedule an appointment.
