Literacy Volunteers is a nonprofit organization which trains men and women to tutor adults free of charge on a one-to-one basis. You can help adults who want to learn to read or who want to learn English as a second language.

Our accreditation requires that each student be tested/evaluated annually. Our tutors help in this task by completing student progress reports and submitting them to our office. It is time again and we need, you our tutors, to help us complete this task. Please click here to print the appropriate reports. Thank you!

Literacy Volunteers of Broome and Tioga Counties continues to serve the residents of the community with Basic Literacy, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and basic computer literacy at no charge.

Literacy Volunteers is nationally accredited by Pro Literacy America. Volunteer Tutors receive 21 hours of training before being matched with a student. Tutors assist the students in enhancing their literacy skills and achieving personal goals such as obtaining a drivers license or gaining employment.

Literacy Volunteers is dependent on volunteers who dedicate their talents to the enrichment of our community. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available. If you are interested in sharing your skills and becoming part of the exciting experience of assisting a student please contact Literacy Volunteers.

Literacy Volunteers is a member of Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc and Literacy Volunteers of New York State. Visit them on the web at http://www.literacyvolunteers.org
